When Copywriting Meets Journalism
Journalists generate ideas, research and interview, then write stories to inform and entertain. Copywriters do much of the same but with the goal of persuading the reader make a purchase. Blog writing is the lovechild of these two writing disciplines. It demands
a perfectly balanced blend of informing, entertaining and strategizing.
Amy Kurland’s decade-plus of copywriting and journalism experience provides a solid foundation for her current role as Blog Consultant, Blog Ghostwriter, and at times Project Manager. Although Blog Logic writes blog content “for you”, you are always an integral part of the process. Collaborative efforts are what guide us. And we write in your voice, with your aspirations in mind.
Substance Matters
Writing filler is not our thing. Filler doesn’t intrigue or attract. Filler rarely builds relationships. At Blog Logic, every post is part of a larger strategy. And if you don’t already know what your blog strategy is, we can help you craft one.
We’re not here to sell you on why and how a blog can be one of your business’s BFFs. You already know that. We’re here to help you get your blog going – and keep it going – with minimal effort on your part.
Amy Kurland
Marketing Content Writer
For as long as she can remember, Amy has been expressing herself creatively through art and writing. She wrote and illustrated a “book” at age 6, constructing it with cardboard, scissors, contact paper and staples. As an adult she channeled her love of the written word into a journalism and copywriting career that has spanned more than two decades.
Amy’s work has appeared in publications such as as Marie Claire, Women’s Day, The LA Weekly, Bikini (remember that one?), The Whole Life Times, and a variety of literary, environmental trade, and entertainment publications. Her copywriting credits include Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles, The St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa, KB Home, Viceroy Hotel Santa Monica, The City of Las Vegas, Olson Homes, and 707 Flora (CBD based skincare line).
When you hire Amy you are not merely hiring her to write, you are hiring her to think. She listens, generates ideas, and implements strategies. Then she uses words to express the desired story or message in a cohesive, impactful way.
In many careers being young is an advantage. For writers, however, life experience strengthens their craft. Amy is 55 years old. She sees her gray hairs and wrinkles as badges of honor; lessons learned as she’s gained wisdom. Because of her age–not despite it—she’s learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t work, both with writing and life in general. That experiential knowledge is infused in everything she writes. When Amy works for you, you get more than just a talented, versatile writer. You also get her life experience, her creativity, her perspective, and her passion.
Amy holds a BA from UC Berkeley in Psychology. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, three kids, and miniature poodle-mix.
