Wisdom from Down in the Hole

Wisdom from Down in the Hole

When I came home with the boys from school yesterday some plumbers were in front replacing our main sewage line. There were two large holes in the lawn, which they had dug up with a shovel (no machines). One of my sons was very interested in looking closer at the holes.

When we walked up to the first hole, one of the plumbers was inside, up to his neck, still digging away. It was pretty hot and this was the second hole he had dug that day. He takes jujitsu so he’s in shape but he looked utterly exhausted. He had also told me earlier that the existing pipe was made of orangeburg (not metal), which had deteriorated and begun to seep some raw sewage.

When he saw my 9 year-old son he said, “Go to college! Otherwise you might be doing this.”

Thank you, dude! Thank you so much!
